What can I do about frequent sinus infections? Obstruction of the sinus drainage pathways can lead to persistent sinus problems. This blockage can be caused by swelling of the membranes due to allergies or frequent infections.

I always have trouble breathing through my nose, what can be done about that? If the obstruction is due to a deviated septum (deformed cartilage or bone) or polyps (inflammatory soft tissue growth) medical and/or surgical treatment will be helpful.

Can cosmetic surgery of the nose be carried out at the same time of sinus surgery? Yes. It is both safe and efficient to perform a combined nasal and sinus surgery as an outpatient in a hospital or surgical center.

Is snoring a serious problem? Snoring can be very serious if it is associated with sleep apnea (breathing stoppage). This can lead to high blood pressure, heart failure or stroke. Loud snoring may be disruptive to someone else’s sleep, as well.

What could be causing my frequent sore throat, hoarseness and the need to clear my throat? Silent reflux. Stomach acids can flow backwards into the throat (not associated with indigestion or stomach pain) causing irritation to the voice box.

I hear ringing in my ears. Is this unusual? Tinnitus (ringing in the ears) can be caused by minor ear infections, high frequency hearing loss or a possible growth on the nerve of hearing.

My child has frequent ear infections, will this affect their hearing? In most cases early treatment will preclude permanent damage.

What causes Swimmer's Ear? Infection of ear canal (outer ear) can occur with excessive exposure to water, usually from swimming. This can be easily treated with cleaning and eardrops provided by your specialist.
